FAQ about Eyelash Extensions

Our natural lash cycle lasts for approximately 4-6 weeks, during this time we shed approximately 3-5 lashes a day. At this stage some old extensions would have fallen out and some new natural lashes would have come through ready to be lashed. The best way you take care of your extensions is to avoid wearing mascara, removing makeup correctly and with an oil free makeup remover as well as minimising contact to the lashes themselves which includes pulling, tugging or rubbing. 

We recommend booking refill appointments every 2-4 weeks to re-lash your newly grown natural lashes. Depending on how well you take care of your extensions will also depend on how well your retention of your extensions will be. Coming to a regular appointment will ensure your lashes are always looking full and maintained.

Classic extensions are 1 extension per 1 natural lash. They enhance your natural lashes by making them appear slightly fuller and adding length. Russian Volume lashes are a hand made fan of 2-6 thinner lashes to create a fuller fluffier look. These lashes are light weight and tend to last longer than classic lashes.

Full sets of extensions will take between 60-90 minutes. Refills will take between 30-60 minutes.

Each extension is added onto each individual lash. Depending upon your natural lashes, your therapist will be able to suggest the most appropriate length and thickness of the extensions to ensure that no damage occurs to any of your natural lashes. During the natural growth cycle of your lashes the extensions will fall off during this time and your natural lashes will grow through as normal.

Unfortunately there are inexperienced technicians out there who cut corners and rush the application of extensions. Generally what we see is an excess amount of glue on each individual lash upon application. It ends up looking like the lashes have been clumped together. This may cause irritation or damage to your natural lashes and we suggest seeing a specialist here at Hollywood Lash Studio to fix this before any more damage occurs. 

NO! If applied correctly eyelash extensions should never hurt. They are applied directly to your natural lash meaning there is no contact with the skin. We use a light weight lash which when applied correctly you should not even feel. We also use a high quality glue which is relativity fume free and does not cause stinging or burning. If you have sensitive eyes you may get some watering but this is completely normal and will go away after a few seconds.

Once applied extensions should not feel any different to your natural lashes. Although reactions are rare they do sometimes occur. Here at Hollywood Lash Studio we take every precaution to prevent this from happening but sometimes they do still occur. If a reaction does occur please contact us immediately as they extensions must be taken off straight away. Reactions to the extension will occur in the first 48 hours of them being applied anything out of this time frame will be an irritation not a reaction, these are easily resolved but please call us if you have any further questions.

Yes, but we ask that you be gentle when applying and removing. Oil free products are best to help with the retention of extensions. We recommend you do not use mascara on your extensions as it may contain oils that will ruin the bond between the extension and the natural lash. All eye makeup must be removed with an OIL FREE makeup remover. Oil based removers will remove the extension prematurely. Yes! As we are a always busy and most clients keep up a regular lash appointment months in advance. To ensure you get your preferred time and day we ask that you book your next appointments ahead of time.

Here are a few simple tips so you can make sure you get the most out of your extensions. 

At your initial appointment you will be provided with a after care card but here are the main things to remember:

• Do not get the wet for a minimum of 24 hours after the application so that the glue cures properly. This includes : Hot showers, sweat from a sauna or a heavy gym work out, swimming and rain. Outside this 24 hours it is fine to get them wet
• Cleanse your lashes with your oil free eyelash cleanser 1-2 times a week
• Gently brush them with your lash wand every 1-2 days
• Do not rub or pull at them
• Do not use and eyelash curler
